Tescos Weekend a huge success!

Merseyside Branch 5's weekend exhibition and RNLI Collection at Tescos was held on a bright but cold weekend and proved to be a great success! Interest was steady throughout the weekend. Saturday seemed one of those days when people had lots to do and not a lot of time to hang about and chat, but nevertheless 16 try dives were booked in on the Saturday. Sunday was brighter, but still chilly, but most folk seemed more relaxed and had time to stop a while. Our target for the weekend was 36 try dives, which are to be carried out on Saturday 27th March. We actually achieved 37 - Target achieved! There were also visitors who couldn't make the 27th March, who want to come along on a Thursday to have a full hour for £20, so they took away contact details and will hopefully be in touch. All were advised that the next intake for new divers is likely to be in September / October. An additional bonus was the number of ready trained PADI divers who showed an interest in joining us to continue their diving and training here in the UK with Merseyside Branch - so we should see some more new faces in the coming weeks - a big welcome awaits you if you are one of those who are now viewing our website! A huge thank you goes out to all those members who came down to help over the weekend, in some cases very early, to pick up the boat and gear that we needed to set up our exhibition. Particular thanks to Don Quilliam for loaning us the generator and patio heater! The work done by our RNLI collection team must also be recognised. They stood for hours at a time collecting for the RNLI at the entrance to Tescos. As soon as we know the total figure, we'll publish it on here and by e-mail so that everyone is aware of their efforts. Due to the length of time it took to count the cash last time, we are simply separating the cash into denominatons and handing it to the RNLI counting team. We will then receive notification of the grand total, but not a breakdown by collector as we had last time. Thanks again everyone - a great weekend! Now lets go diving!
