The Ship

The Counsellor was built in 1926 by C Connell & Co Ltd of Glasgow for Charente Steamship Co Ltd. She grossed 5068 tons with overall dimensions of 409x52-6x24-11 feet, and was capable of making 12 knots.

History

She detonated a magnetic mine at 10 am (one of eight laid by U32 (Oberleutnant zur See Hans Jenisch) on the 7th March 1940. On the 8th March 1940, and sank west of the Bar Light Vessel on the 9th of March. She lies in 21m.
